Important stuff for my new family to know about me:
1)I I have lots of energy so I need lots of off leash exercise.
2) My foster Dad says I am so very loving and caring.
3) I’m good with other dogs and older children. I have lots of energy and wouldn’t want to topple over a young one.
4) I LOVE to play with dogs and people.
5) I’m very affectionate and sweet.
6) I’m awfully smart and take quickly to training.
Hi everyone! I’m Garth, a 1-year-old GSP/Lab mix. And I am a really sweet boy. But I am also a very energetic dog so I need lots of exercise every day. I’m OK getting some of my exercise in a large back yard but I need a lot more off leash running thanthat. If I don’t get the running exercise that I need, I turn to zoomies and jumping in the house. I am crate trained and house broken and know how to use a dog door.
Even though I’m probably an alpha dog, I am fine with other dogs and have never shown any aggression towards a dog or any person. Although I’m good with canine friends, I’m probably not OK with cats. I am just fine with older children though probably too energetic and strong for young kids.
As I mentioned, I need some consistent training, especially for walking on leash. I don’t really like having to be on a leash. But I’m extremely smart and figure out routines quickly. I have, however, learned 7 basic commands. So regular training for outdoor activities will be really important for me with my new family. And actually, I like training!
And I LOVE to play! Tennis balls are my favorites. I especiallylove to play my own game of soccer when I put two tennis balls in my mouth and kick another ball at the same time. I really likedog toys that squeak and Kong toys with peanut butter as a treat. And I also like bully sticks. Although I sure love playing, I am a very affectionate, sweet and loving boy so time with my people is very important to me. My new family will need to be patient and give me consistent training every day and set time aside for daily running exercise, too. I just really need to get rid of all the energy I have so I will have time for the affection and love that I thrive on. My foster thinks I’m wonderfuI saying, “he’s so loving and caring.” I hope a family who can give me the training, exercise and love that I yearn for will want to take me home with them and make me an important part of their family.
