General Care and Well-being of Foster Dog
While the above-named dog is in my foster care, I will provide a loving,
nurturing home environment for him/her, just as I do or would with my own dog. If I mistreat, neglect or abuse the dog in any way, Mile High GSP Rescue will immediately remove the dog from my care.
The above-named dog will reside in my home, not outside as a residential dog.
Mile High GSP Rescue will provide a leash and collar for the foster dog who will be placed in my care. Rabies tag (when provided by a clinic )and I.D. tags will also be provided. It is my responsibility to ensure that the foster dog wears the collar with attached tags at all times.
Mile High GSP Rescue will also provide food for the dog while he/she is in my care.
*Enrichment - The rescue will provide chew toys and/or puzzle toys for the dog I am fostering. If those toys are not appropriate for the dog, MHGSP Rescue will provide toys that are appropriate (e.g. balls, frisbees instead of hard rubber toys or vice versa). I agree to provide at least 30 minutes of off-leash exercise for the dog daily unless a medical diagnosis allows only gentle on-leash exercise. If he/she has no previous recall training, I will ask for training help from the rescue as well as the use of a training collar if that is deemed the best training tool for the dog. If I use a training collar, I will only use the “beep/tone” or vibration setting on the collar to help the dog learn recall. I will not use a shock option.
**Behavior - I agree to use only gentle verbal correction, redirection, short quiet or crate time in dealing with typical GSP, non-aggressive behaviors. If my corrections are not effective or, in the case of more serious behavior issues that I am unable to successfully correct, I will seek advice from the rescue.
If I leave town or am otherwise unable to care for the foster dog for a short period of time, I will notify the rescue at least 2 weeks ahead of time to determine the best temporary home for the dog.
Emergencies - In the event of a natural or man-made disaster during which a local rescue agency (police, firemen or other legitimate agency) recommends that animals be evacuated/relocated to a safe location, I will immediately notify the rescue
720-373-7274 to let it know the safe location and then follow the directives of the agency. Once the life-threatening emergency is over, I will again contact MHGSP Rescue to let it know that the dog is back in his/her foster home and is safe with me.
If the dog is lost or stolen, I will contact Mile High GSP Rescue immediately:
720-373-7274
I agree to provide the rescue with photos of this dog as well as offer input in
the writing of his or her bio to help the rescue find the most appropriate, loving home for this dog.
Adoption of Foster Dog
Mile High GSP Rescue has the sole responsibility and right to adopt the above named foster dog to a new owner. I may not rehome the dog independently of the rescue. The rescue will, however, ask for my input and recommendations when placing the above named foster dog in a new home.
If, after fostering, I want to adopt the dog, I will become one of the potential adopters. If the rescue decides to adopt the dog to me, I will pay the adoption fee established by Mile High GSP Rescue. In lieu of a full adoption fee, I have the option of adopting the foster dog while continuing to foster dogs for Mile High GSP Rescue. The Rescue and I will make that decision jointly and the rescue will determine the adoption fee.
