These are important things that my new family should know about me:
1) I would like lots of time with my new family.
2) I need lots of daily exercise.
3) I am good with the young children in my current home.
4) I don’t have a lot of experience with other dogs so I’m very timid and very submissive.
5) I love being outdoors.
6) I really don’t want to spend most of the day alone, especially not in a crate.
BOOST is my name. I’m a 5-1/2 -year-old purebred GSP and am really looking forward to the
rescue finding a new home for me. My dad has recently become part of a new family that has
two very young children and I am just too active a boy to get the kind of attention that I need
and am used to from my earlier life. Although I am not hunt trained, I am crate trained and
know some basic commands like “sit” and “come.” Although I need some time to get to know
most people, I get along great with all adults after I know them and as well as the toddlers in
my current home. I am house broken unless I am left alone too long in the house or when no
one is paying attention to me standing at the door whining to go out.
There are no other dogs in my current family now and I don’t have a lot of previous experience
with other dogs either so I’m pretty timid around them. That makes me a pretty submissive
boy. Cats are an unknown for me. I’ve never been with them but I did get pretty excited when a
small dog walked in front of my house. I kind of thought it was a rabbit. My prey drive might be
too much to live with a cat.
Most of my time with dad and now my current family has been indoors but I absolutely love
running outside and playing fetch. And what great fun to run in the sprinklers or through the
snow. My dad says one of my most challenging traits is that I am constantly wanting to go
outside, then back inside, again. . . and again. That probably means I would like to have my
own access to a yard, like a doggie door, as long as there is a 6 ft privacy fence to keep me safe.
I’m not sure that my dad completely understood how much GSPs want to be outside when he
adopted me. But he does know that I need a lifestyle that he just can’t give to me now.
Some of my best qualities are that I am very loyal and protective of my people. And I am very
energetic. Of course, I’m a GSP! Unfortunately, I am left alone in my crate for 8-10 hours a day
and that’s where I sleep, too, so I really need a family who will love taking me with them on
adventures and their other family activities. What I want and need most is lots and lots of
outdoor exercise and a family who has time to spend with me and make me feel I’m an
important part of their lives.
