Remington - Adopted

Updated: Nov 22

Most important things for my new family to know about me:

1) I am a young, playful pup who enjoys being with other dogs and would like another playful dog in my new family.

2) I have lots and lots of energy.

3) I am house-broken and know my basic commands.

4) Like so many GSPs, I’m a Velcro pup. And I’m very affectionate.

5) I do have some separation anxiety when I’m left alone. Best for me to have a mom or dad who is around much of the time or, at least, another companion dog.

6) I love sleeping in the bedroom with my mom and dad.

I’m Remington, a 1-year-old, male German Shorthaired Pointer. You could probably tell that I’m a purebred GSP from my pictures. My mom and dad have to move to another state where my dad has a new job and they can’t take me with them so they need to find a new family for me. Because I’m a very young GSP with incredible energy, my mom and dad give me lots of exercise (1-1/2 hours most days), much of it off-leash.

I am house trained and will let you know I need to go outside by sitting by the door and looking at you and then the door. Hopefully, you’ll get the message! I also know sit, stay, down, come and my recall is really good. I’m not left alone for more than a couple of hours at a time and then I am in a crate but I do not like being there and will usually bark. I could use some work walking on a leash because I’m pretty easily distracted. If I see another dog or pick up a scent, I pull pretty hard. Clearly, I have a pretty good prey drive. At night, I sleep in my mom and dad’s bedroom on my own bed right next to them.

I am an only dog in my family but I think I would really enjoy having another playful pup in my new home because I get along well with other dogs. I’ve never shown any aggression towards them because, honestly, all I want is to just play with them! But if we go to a dog park, I don’t insist on playing and I’m not at all aggressive, rather pretty submissive. I’m very comfortable with them unless they bark at me. I like being around both dogs and people but probably not cats because I do have a strong prey drive.

My mom and dad describe me as playful and adventurous. And I’m a tolerant boy. When we’re playing, my mom and dad can get very close to my face and handle my ears and I don’t react except to maybe give them a crazy side-eye. And I don’t mind them picking me up to move me somewhere. I’m also friendly and very affectionate. Like many GSPs, I’m such a Velcro pup, loving to snuggle.
