Bella

We have sad news today. BELLA, one of our lovely owner surrenders who many of you are familiar with if you’ve visited our website, was euthanized by her long-time owners on February 28. She was diagnosed a short time ago with a very large abdominal tumor, possibly due to hemangiosarcoma, such a deadly and fast-moving cancer. Her owners wanted to keep Bella with them and eventually chose to let this sweet girl go peacefully. We were so sorry that we weren’t able to find just the right family for Bella who did need a very special home. But fate kept her where she belonged, with the family she loved and trusted, until her last days. Many hugs and our warmest thoughts are with Dave and Jennifer and we wish for a gentle, loving passage to the Rainbow Bridge for dear Bella.

DOGS: We love your dog(s) and Call to Arms Brewing Company is dog-friendly, however, please keep in mind there is limited space which is made up of concrete (not grass for bathroom relief) and if the weather is hot, not much shade for overheating pooches. Please consider this when you make your decision whether or not to bring your dog.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email us at milehighgsp@gmail.com, call 720.373.7274 or reach out to us through Facebook. Thank you for helping to support our rescue and save GSPs in need. We hope to see you there!

So when Grace died unexpectedly at age 14, the couple was crushed. But because Grace was a dog, “I was unable to talk to anyone about this immense grief,” says Anderson, who wrote the book “The Powerful Bond between People and Pets: Our Boundless Connections to Companion Animals.” Read more →

Chica’s Rescue

This is the story of Chica, a 9 or 10-year-old female GSP found on the side of the road. It’s a sad-turned-happy story that touched us here at MHGSPR and we wanted to share it with you.

It’s truly a touching and powerful illustration of what rescue is all about.
